The L4 Box prospect skills camp is a unique opportunity to get ready for box lacrosse season. Box lacrosse is continuing to grow within the United States and encourages a fast paced environment that requires tremendous skill and a high IQ. Box lacrosse is now considered the standard for season preparation at high level NCAA Division 1 programs. Nearly every NCAA Division I team is playing box in the off-season or sending players to Canada during the summer to play box lacrosse.
We are introducing a new format that will give players an opportunity to play and learn box lacrosse the RIGHT WAY. The makeup of this prospect camp will consist of mainly scrimmaging with some skill development drills. This will set the standard for L4 box lacrosse moving forward and will be replicated in the months of November and December.
- All players will be divided into three teams and will be given a jersey provided by L4.
- The teams will have a GM (coach) that will position players into a role and help them better understand the game.
- Each game will be 12 minutes running
- Referees will be provided
- Participating in this camp is a great way to prepare for the L4 box tryouts in October.
This session will allow players to get familiar with box lacrosse principles, skills and terminology. During the first practice, players will be drafted to a team. There will be 3 teams total in this clinic and will rotate playing each other throughout the session. All players are susceptible to trades and being asked to change position. We believe that playing box lacrosse is the best way to learn it. We will instruct throughout play in a controlled scrimmage setting so players can learn and adapt to making decisions
on the fly.
This session will be lead by L4 Box Director Dylan Gatt who grew up in Welland Ontario, Canada playing hockey and box lacrosse. He attended Notre High school and is a two time provincial champion with the Niagara raiders and a Canadian National Champion with Team Ontario. When Dylan was 16 he was drafted to the Akwesasne Indians of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse league where he split his rookie season with the Welland warlords. The majority of Dylan’s box lacrosse career was spent playing with the St.Catharines Jr.A Athletics where he finished as a captain and successful offensive player. Dylan played his club field lacrosse for Edge out of Ontario and attended Bellarmine University to play college lacrosse as an attackman. After his college career he was drafted to the arena lacrosse league and played for the St.Catharines Shockwave.
