Founded in August 2020, the Bluegrass Lacrosse League has become the premier off-season lacrosse league in the Louisville area. For the past five years, BLL has provided the highest level of local competition while also introducing many new players to the game. With skill-based divisions at each age group, BLL offers a place for beginners to learn and grow, while giving more experienced players an outlet to compete and excel. We’re excited to continue growing the sport and look forward to an unforgettable 2025 season!
 

 About Bluegrass Lacrosse League (BLL) 
The Bluegrass Lacrosse League, based in Louisville, KY, offers a competitive league unlike any other in the area. Players register and are drafted to a team following the BLL 2nd/4th Training camp. After BLL training camp, players are placed onto one of four BLL teams (Dragons, Huskies, Ninjas, Reapers). Every player gets drafted to a team, this league is open to highly advanced players and players just starting out! Please see below for the training camp and game dates

Information

How it works 

  • Players will go through the 2nd/4th BLL training camp which consists of learning fundamentals and scrimmages. 

  • Players will be given a Jersey & BLL team Shorts (jerseys will need to be turned in at the end of the season players keep shorts)

  • After the BLL Training Camp the coaches meet and players are placed onto 4 even teams. There are 4 teams (Dragons, Huskies, Ninjas, Reapers) 

  • After the BLL training camp, we will send you an email letting you know what team your son is on. 

  • At the end of the regular season, each division will battle in a playoff to claim 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!

League Format

7v7 FORMAT

  • 3 Midfielders, 2 Attackman, 2 Defenders, 1 Goalie

  • In the 3rd/4th Division NO poles are allowed

  • Two 20-minute periods - running time

  • During playoffs, the time will stop under 2 minutes in the 2nd period if the game is within 3 goals

Overtime

  • NO game will result in a tie. This is not soccer. 

  • If after regulation play the score is even, a 10 minute sudden death overtime will immediately follow.

 

BLL Point System

  • 2 Division points for a win

  • 1 Point for an overtime loss

  • 0 Points for regulation loss

What is the Bluegrass Lacrosse League and how does it work?

The Bluegrass Lacrosse League is a lacrosse league located in Louisville, KY. Players sign up and are drafted to a team. Based on age and experience, players are placed in one of the 4 programs (Ninjas, Dragons, Reapers, or Huskies). 

 

What team is my son on?

Teams are posted and emailed to everyone the day after BLL Training Camp (the last training camp is September 8th). To see when your son has training camp, please see the schedule above.

 

My son has to miss one of the BLL training camps, will he still be drafted?

Yes, everyone is drafted to a team. Please be sure to submit an ABSENT FORM if missing a date. Please refer to the absent form on the BLL website.

Do you have to have a "School" team?

This is not a school team league, it's open to all players. Everyone is a free agent and teams are balanced by age and skill level. This is done to promote the growth of lacrosse in the state and keep the competition level high.

 

What days will my son have games?

Please see above for the full schedule. Remember, your schedule will depend on what team your son is on.

 

What happens if a game is canceled due to weather?

We will exhaust all options if a game is canceled - even if that means playing on another day of the week.

My son is missing one game is there a prorated rate for me?

We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer any prorates for the league.
